Catering Assistant

About the role

JBS Australia is recruiting several full-time Catering Assistants for its Townsville Kitchen team, which supports a busy staff cafeteria serving more than 400 employees. The role reports to the Catering Manager and offers Monday to Friday hours only, with no weekend work. Pay starts at $29.45 per hour plus superannuation and overtime where possible.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation, delivery, presentation and serving of meals
• Receive and store stock
• Clean food preparation areas, cooking equipment and utensils
• Keep the dining room clean, tidy and presentable at all times
• Help prepare for special events such as morning teas, fundraising events, guest visitors and senior/executive meetings

Required profile

• Previous experience in a commercial kitchen is advantageous
• Excellent customer service skills and a willingness to go above and beyond
• Able to take direction from others and to work both independently and in a team
• Willingness to work across a variety of shifts, including late nights and early mornings (no weekends)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, good time management and the ability to work well under pressure
