Category Manager - Warehousing & Ground Freight

About the role

Arbex is hiring a Category Manager for its ANZ Warehousing & Ground Freight category, a supply chain role focused on the Australia and New Zealand logistics network. The role supports cost optimisation, supplier performance and service excellence, and works closely with Logistics Operations, Distribution and Warehouse teams, Customer Service, Finance, carriers and 3PL providers. It is based in the North Sydney office under a hybrid working model.

Key responsibilities

• Own the sourcing strategy and execution for warehousing, distribution and ground transportation services across Australia and New Zealand.
• Lead supplier negotiations, contracting and commercial agreements to deliver cost, cash and supply continuity objectives.
• Develop category cost models, market intelligence and should-cost analyses to support strategic sourcing decisions.
• Manage supplier relationships and performance through scorecards, business reviews and risk mitigation.
• Negotiate carrier and 3PL contracts, rates and service levels, and lead benchmarking and tender events.
• Work with Logistics Operations teams on network changes, service improvements and operational excellence.

Required profile

• 5 to 8 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement or category management.
• Experience managing logistics, transportation, warehousing or distribution categories.
• Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics, Business or a related discipline.
• Role open to local candidates already authorised to work in Australia only; no relocation support provided.

Required skills

• Commercial negotiation, supplier management and contract management.
• Analytical skills including cost modelling and market analysis.
• Preferred: knowledge of 3PL operating models, exposure to supplier performance management frameworks and experience in a global or regional matrix organisation.
