About the role

The boutique insights consultancy is seeking a Category Insights Consultant to join its Sydney team. This client‑facing position blends shopper insight, category thinking and commercial advisory to turn complex data into clear, actionable recommendations for leading FMCG and retail brands.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and develop relationships across a portfolio of FMCG and retail clients, including onsite collaboration.
• Consult with stakeholders to define business problems and shape insight‑driven solutions.
• Analyse shopper, sales, loyalty and survey data to uncover commercially relevant insights.
• Translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives and present findings regularly.
• Continuously grow expertise in category, shopper and loyalty strategy.

Required profile

• Background in a research agency, shopper insights consultancy, category team or FMCG insights environment.
• Enjoys direct client interaction and communicating insights clearly.
• Strong commercial thinking and ability to influence stakeholders.

Required skills

• Experience working with sales, loyalty, customer or survey data.
• Category knowledge including range optimisation, product deletions, innovation, planograms, pricing, promotions and shopper missions.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
• Strong commercial acumen, attention to detail and planning skills.
