Casual Dental Receptionist

About the role

1300SMILES Smithfield, a busy family-focused dental practice in Smithfield Shopping Centre offering general, restorative and orthodontic care, is looking for a friendly, organised casual Dental Receptionist. This is a front-desk role where you are the first point of contact for patients by phone, online and in person, working closely with the dentists, Practice Manager and front office team.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome patients and create a warm, professional first impression
• Manage phone calls, emails and patient enquiries
• Schedule and coordinate appointments efficiently
• Keep the appointment book running smoothly
• Process payments and handle health fund claims
• Maintain accurate patient records
• Support the clinical team and assist with general administrative and reception duties
• Handle walk-in enquiries, which are common in the shopping centre setting

Required profile

• Previous experience in dental or medical reception
• Generally available Monday to Saturday 8am to 5:30pm, including late-night Thursdays, as a casual
• Accuracy with payments, item numbers and patient records
• Warm, welcoming manner and clear, professional communication
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
• Willingness to learn new systems and develop across the practice

Required skills

• Dental practice management software (Dental4Windows, Exact or similar)
• Payments processing and record keeping
