About the role

Oaks Melbourne on Market Hotel is looking for a skilled and experienced cook to join its kitchen team on a casual basis. The role supports the smooth running of the kitchen, prepares and cooks a wide variety of dishes to a consistently high standard and helps deliver an exceptional dining experience for guests. Immediate start is available.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients and assist with cooking and plating of meals
• Cook a variety of dishes in line with menu standards and guest expectations
• Ensure excellent meal presentation before service
• Maintain proper food storage, safety and hygiene standards
• Keep the kitchen clean, organised and compliant with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements
• Support team members so daily kitchen operations run smoothly

Required profile

• Minimum 12 months' experience as a cook or in a similar kitchen role
• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team
• Positive, proactive attitude and genuine passion for cooking
• Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including weekends and public holidays
• Working rights within Australia or New Zealand

Shift details and pay

• Rotating roster across Monday to Sunday, with shifts scheduled across breakfast and dinner periods
• Hourly rates (excluding superannuation): Monday to Friday $33.85, Saturday $40.62, Sunday $47.39
