Casual Commis Chef - Italian Restaurant

About the role

Tesoro, the signature Italian-inspired restaurant at Mövenpick Hotel Hobart, is looking for a passionate and motivated Casual Commis Chef. The menu is built around fresh, seasonal Tasmanian produce and local growers, makers and suppliers. You will assist with food preparation and service in a supportive hotel kitchen, working alongside an experienced culinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food for breakfast, lunch, dinner, room service, functions and buffet service
• Prepare and maintain mise en place to support efficient service
• Prepare food according to kitchen recipes, quality and presentation standards
• Maintain clean, tidy and hygienic work areas, equipment and storage spaces
• Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements
• Assist with stock rotation and storage while minimising food waste
• Monitor daily food and product requirements and communicate them to the chef on duty
• Work with the culinary and Food & Beverage teams to deliver friendly, professional service
• Take part in team briefings, training and development

Required profile

• Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel or commercial kitchen
• Relevant culinary qualifications
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe work practices
• Interest in Italian-inspired cuisine
• Full working rights in Australia
