C4I Designer

About the role

As a C4I Designer at Austal Defence Australia, you will help shape and deliver command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence solutions for defence shipbuilding platforms. You will work across the full system lifecycle, collaborating with OEMs and integration partners to ensure mission‑ready outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the C4I Engineer on assigned tasks and become a subject‑matter expert on equipment and systems.
• Create, update, and review C4I integration documentation, coordinating with fit‑out, electrical, mechanical, and structural teams.
• Review subcontract offers, scopes, and documentation requirements.
• Produce 3D CAD models, adjustments, and associated drawings.
• Draft 2D CAD schematics, diagrams, and detailed arrangements.
• Support production during installation, build, and sea‑trial phases.
• Assist verification & validation activities during testing and acceptance.
• Report Earned Value Management data for design, documentation, and physical completion.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience in electrical design or systems integration.
• At least 3 years experience in drafting or 3D modelling.
• Experience in C4I integration within defence shipbuilding is preferred.
• Proficiency with bill of materials management in Excel and databases.
• Ability to write technical specifications for electrical equipment.
• Eligibility for a Defence Security Clearance.
