Buyer - Energy & Utilities Projects

About the role

Downer Energy & Utilities is looking for a Buyer to support a regional portfolio of Energy & Utilities projects and contracts. You will source the right materials and services at the right cost and time, working closely with project teams, suppliers and procurement professionals to deliver compliant, value-driven results.

Key responsibilities

• Support procurement planning so that projects have plans aligned to Downer standards and contract requirements.
• Carry out sourcing and contracting, including RFx processes, supplier engagement, negotiations and purchase order management.
• Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, contractors and internal stakeholders.
• Monitor compliance with procurement processes, systems and governance, including procure-to-pay (P2P).
• Identify procurement risks, opportunities and cost-saving initiatives to support continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in procurement, project management and/or contract management in construction, utilities, oil and gas or a similar industry.
• Knowledge of source-to-contract and procure-to-pay processes.
• Strong organisational, analytical and reporting skills, with a proactive, detail-oriented approach and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in ERP, procurement and Microsoft Office applications.
• RFx processes, supplier negotiation and purchase order management.
