Business Development Manager - Waste Management

About the role

Cleanaway, Australia's largest waste management company, is looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to grow its portfolio of strategic Key Account customers across Melbourne. The role focuses on new business acquisition, taking ownership of opportunities from initial engagement through contract negotiation and onboarding.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, target and win new business with strategic Key Account customers, building a pipeline of high-value prospects
• Build trusted relationships with key decision-makers and deliver tailored waste management solutions
• Lead the end-to-end sales process: prospecting, proposals, tenders, negotiations and contract execution
• Drive commercial growth through acquisition plans, cross-selling and strong financial and contract management
• Collaborate with internal teams to deliver customer onboarding and long-term partnerships
• Maintain accurate CRM records, sales forecasts and pipeline reporting in line with governance and safety standards

Required profile

• Proven success in business development, new business acquisition or strategic account management in a complex B2B environment
• Experience in FMCG, logistics, industrial services, infrastructure, environmental services or similar
• Track record of converting new business into long-term commercial partnerships
• Negotiation, influencing and relationship-building skills, able to engage senior decision-makers
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to develop tailored solutions
