Business Development Manager - Shipping & Logistics

About the role

Atlantic Container Line Group, part of a global shipping and logistics organisation specialising in containerised cargo and maritime transport, is hiring a full-time Business Development Manager based in Melbourne, VIC. The role drives revenue growth across Asia and Australia trade lanes by developing new business and nurturing existing customer relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Prospect and qualify leads, hold client meetings and presentations, prepare proposals and pricing recommendations, and negotiate commercial terms in line with company guidelines.
• Analyse market trends and competitor activity, and work with operations and customer service teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Maintain accurate sales pipelines and reporting, and contribute to strategic planning.
• Attend industry events and represent the company professionally to strengthen its brand presence in the region.

Required profile

• Demonstrated business development, sales or account management experience in shipping, logistics or related industries.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Supply Chain or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Knowledge of international shipping, container logistics or maritime operations is highly beneficial.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment, balancing office, client visits and remote work.

Required skills

• Client relationship building, stakeholder management and negotiation.
• Market research, data analysis and interpretation of trade and competitor trends.
• Preparation of commercial proposals, pricing models and forecasts.
• Proficiency in CRM systems and standard office software such as Excel and PowerPoint.
