Breathing Systems Engineer

About the role

The Breathing Systems Engineer will provide specialist engineering expertise to sustain breathing systems, hyperbaric equipment and charging facilities for critical operational capability. This permanent, full‑time position is based in Sydney and reports to the Engineering Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist systems engineering expertise for breathing, hyperbaric and charging systems.
• Lead engineering change activities, requirements management, integration, verification, validation, testing and certification.
• Conduct technical reviews, risk assessments and design evaluations.
• Support configuration management, systems safety, certification and engineering governance.
• Review contractor deliverables to ensure quality, value‑for‑money and risk‑based outcomes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent recognised discipline.
• Strong engineering experience in a regulated or highly governed environment.
• Eligibility for Chartered Engineer registration and membership of a recognised professional body.
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency and ability to obtain and maintain Defence security clearance.
• Ability to obtain ITAR clearance for relevant systems.
