Bookkeeper

About the role

United Exports is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper to support its finance team with day-to-day accounting operations. The role ensures accurate financial records, timely processing of transactions and smooth management of accounts payable and receivable.

Key responsibilities

• Accounts payable: generate purchase orders accurately and on time; process supplier and inter-company invoices in line with regulatory requirements; allocate payments, credits and journal entries accurately; follow up on outstanding purchase orders and invoices; maintain up-to-date creditor records
• Creditors reconciliation: reconcile supplier and inter-company accounts; prepare weekly and monthly creditor age analysis reports; investigate and resolve discrepancies; support cash flow forecasting through accurate reporting
• Accounts receivable: generate and issue customer invoices and on-charge recoveries; allocate incoming payments against invoices; process discounts, rebates and claims with proper documentation; maintain customer records and follow up on outstanding payments
• Debt collection and account maintenance: monitor overdue accounts, take collection action, resolve customer queries and account discrepancies, and assist with KYC requirements
• Reporting and support: prepare weekly age analysis and collection forecasts, issue customer statements, take part in weekly finance and debtor meetings, and support ad hoc reporting and reconciliations

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field (essential)
• At least 3 years' experience in a bookkeeping or junior accounting role
• Studying toward a CA or CPA qualification is advantageous
• Exposure to multi-site or agribusiness environments is advantageous

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, lookups)
• Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite or similar preferred)
• Solid understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial processes
• Attention to detail, analytical ability, organisation, time management and written and verbal communication
