Bid Manager - Mechanical Projects

About the role

An established Australian engineering and services business, which delivers pumping, equipment and fluid management solutions across mining, infrastructure, data centres and heavy industry, is expanding its project delivery capability. Reporting into the Sales Team, the Bid Manager leads bid coordination and estimating for mechanical projects, owning the process from initial scope review to tender submission. It is a hands-on role combining mechanical estimating with commercial awareness, supplier engagement and coordination of winning bids across internal teams, helping the business secure larger packages typically valued at $500k to $1m+.

Key responsibilities

• Lead bid coordination and estimating from enquiry through to tender submission
• Develop accurate estimates, budgets and competitive project proposals
• Sourcing and evaluating supplier quotations for equipment, fabrication, piping, valves and associated packages
• Review technical scopes, drawings, specifications and supplier submissions
• Coordinate input from sales, engineering and project delivery teams
• Identify commercial risks, scope gaps and opportunities to improve bid competitiveness

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical estimating, tendering or bid management within engineering or industrial environments
• Strong understanding of mechanical equipment, fabrication, piping, pumps or related systems
• Experience coordinating supplier quotations and developing project cost estimates
• Confident reviewing technical documentation and validating project scope
• Commercially minded, proactive and able to manage multiple tenders at once
• Able to work autonomously while collaborating with sales, engineering and project teams
