Belt Technician

About the role

Fortescue is looking for a skilled Belt Technician to join the Fixed Plant Maintenance team at the Cloudbreak Mine Site. The role focuses on the safe inspection, repair, maintenance and optimisation of conveyor belt systems to support reliable production.

Key responsibilities

• Perform steel‑cord and fabric conveyor belt splicing, repairs and installations.
• Carry out pulley lagging using cold‑vulcanised rubber to Fortescue standards.
• Apply rubber lining to pipes, spools, launders, chutes and other process equipment.
• Complete conveyor maintenance tasks such as roller replacement, frame repairs, skirt maintenance and tracking system installation.
• Inspect conveyor systems, identify reliability improvements and record activities in Fortescue’s maintenance management system.
• Operate belt handling equipment safely, including winders, winches and belt stands.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, belt hygiene and workplace safety.

Required profile

• Level 2 or 3 Belt Splicing trade qualification or equivalent.
• Proven experience working on conveyor systems in a fixed‑plant processing environment.
• Current C Class Manual Driver’s Licence.
• High Risk Work Licence, Rigging/Dogging and Working at Heights or Confined Space certifications are desirable.
• Strong commitment to safety, teamwork and continuous improvement.
