Barista

About the role

62Thirty Cafe & Bar, a beachfront cafe and bar on the sands of Koombana Bay in Bunbury, is looking for a skilled barista to join its team on a full-time basis. You will prepare and serve high-quality espresso coffee and other beverages in a busy cafe and bar environment, working alongside the wider team to keep service running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, serve and sell espresso, long black, flat white, latte, cappuccino and other espresso-based drinks
• Select, grind and measure coffee beans, adjust grinders and operate espresso machines
• Steam and texture milk and prepare alternative milk beverages
• Take orders, explain menu items and recommend beverages and light snacks
• Deliver friendly, efficient and professional customer service
• Operate the POS system, process cash and electronic payments and handle transactions accurately
• Promote products and assist with sales of beverages and snacks
• Clean and maintain espresso machines, grinders, utensils and service areas, and wash glassware
• Replenish coffee beans, milk, syrups, cups and lids, restock fridges and shelves, and follow food safety and hygiene procedures
• Assist with general cafe duties and work the rostered shifts, including weekends or public holidays if required

Required profile

• Minimum 1-2 years of barista experience in a high-volume cafe
• Ability to prepare espresso-based drinks and operate commercial coffee machines
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently and as part of a team
• Availability to work the rostered shifts, including weekends or public holidays if required

Required skills

• Espresso extraction, milk texturing and beverage presentation
• POS operation and payment handling
• Food safety, hygiene and workplace safety knowledge

What we offer

• Salary of $70,000 - $90,000 depending on experience
