Backend Software Engineer (Python/Django)

About the role

We are seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join a mission‑driven technology organisation that operates critical infrastructure for a large, diverse user community. The role focuses on building and maintaining data‑driven applications, automations and integrations that support essential operational systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and deploy backend services using Python and Django on AWS.
• Own the full software development lifecycle from requirements gathering to production support.
• Create and maintain APIs and data integrations handling JSON, YAML and XML formats.
• Work with SQL databases, design schemas and optimise queries.
• Collaborate with a small, cross‑functional team to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.

Required profile

• Strong professional experience with Python and Django.
• Proven ability to manage solutions across the entire SDLC.
• Experience with AWS or comparable cloud platforms and containerised deployments.
• Background in building APIs and data‑driven integrations.
• Solid understanding of SQL databases and database design.
• Team‑oriented communicator who adapts quickly to new systems.
• Exposure to telecommunications or network environments is a plus.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture.
