Back-End Software Engineer

About the role

Join Qantas' new Product Innovation Centre in Adelaide to design and deliver robust, scalable back‑end systems that power seamless digital experiences for airline customers. You will work on high‑traffic applications, applying cloud‑native principles and ensuring fast, secure, and reliable services.

Key responsibilities

• Guide and lead the architecture, delivery and development of back‑end software that supports the business unit.
• Share responsibility for software quality, meeting reliability, performance, security and data‑privacy expectations.

Required profile

• 3+ years of hands‑on software engineering experience building high‑traffic back‑end applications.
• Strong background with Java, Spring / Spring Boot and relational/NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL or DynamoDB.
• Experience with cloud‑native development on AWS, including deployment, scaling and operational considerations.
• Proficiency in containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Git).
• Passion for clean code, continuous improvement and a test‑and‑learn mindset.
