Aviation Rescue Fire Fighter Recruit - Western Sydney Airport 2027

About the role

Airservices Australia is recruiting Aviation Rescue Fire Fighters (ARFF) for Western Sydney International Airport. The role is full-time and permanent, and recruits start training in early 2027. No previous firefighting experience is needed: Airservices provides comprehensive paid training, nationally recognised qualifications and ongoing development.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to aircraft incidents and airport emergencies
• Provide first aid and emergency assistance
• Maintain specialist firefighting vehicles and equipment
• Take part in ongoing operational and fitness training
• Support airport safety and emergency preparedness activities
• Work as part of a close-knit, high-performing team

Required profile

• Australian or New Zealand citizenship, or Australian permanent residency
• Completed secondary education (minimum Year 10)
• Current unrestricted driver's licence
• Hold, or be working towards, a Heavy Rigid (HR) licence ready for recruit training in early 2027
• Hold, or obtain before training, a current Provide First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011 or HLTAID014)
• Ability to pass the online tests, medical assessments and the Physical Aptitude Test (PAT)
• Strong teamwork, communication and decision-making skills
