Audit Director - Business and Private Bank

About the role

ANZ is seeking an Audit Director for its Business and Private Bank division. The role is based in Melbourne and reports to the General Manager Audit – Australia Retail, Business & Private Bank and Audit Operations & Quality. The director will lead independent, high‑quality third‑line assurance across the portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver independent audit coverage across the Business & Private Bank portfolio, including end‑to‑end customer value chains and critical operations, aligned with key risks and the approved audit plan.
• Form evidence‑based views on the effectiveness of governance, risk management and controls, and provide credible insights to senior stakeholders.
• Own portfolio‑level risk assessment and audit planning, shaping coverage priorities across customer value chains and critical operations.
• Provide constructive challenge and influence to business, risk and operations leaders to strengthen control environments and risk management practices.
• Oversee audit delivery to ensure high‑quality, timely outcomes, strong audit discipline and adherence to internal standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in leading audit engagements within a banking or financial services environment.
• Strong ability to build and maintain senior stakeholder relationships.
• Demonstrated capability to shape audit strategy and influence risk‑management practices.
• Leadership experience in managing audit teams and delivering audit plans.
