Associate Structural Engineer

About the role

Robert Bird Group, a member of the SJ Group, is looking for an Associate Structural Engineer to join its buildings and structures team in North Sydney. Working with a specialist team of engineers, drafters and project managers, you will provide technical design input, coordination and project delivery support across buildings projects locally and nationally. The role is described as hybrid.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate structural design and documentation for projects locally and nationally
• Carry out structural design components using software such as SpaceGass, ETABS, MicroStran and Strand7
• Review structural designs so that analysis and design meet technical standards and client and group requirements
• Produce engineering reports and supporting tender proposals
• Collaborate with team members, contributors and stakeholders to keep projects on time and to quality
• Contribute to the technical success of projects and the team
• Liaise with Project Directors and Associates on current and future projects

Required profile

• Relevant engineering qualifications with a focus on structural engineering
• More than 8 years of experience in an engineering design consultancy
• Solid grounding in steel and concrete design
• CPEng or actively working towards chartership
• Demonstrated design experience using structural software
• Project management experience covering administrative, commercial and technical aspects
• Strong understanding of Australian codes and standards
• Able to work independently and in a team, with full working rights
