Associate / Senior Associate – General Insurance (Perth)

About the role

We are seeking an Associate or Senior Associate to join our General Insurance team in Perth. The role focuses on defending general liability claims across casualty, property damage and product liability matters, with regular appearances in the District Court and Supreme Court of WA.

Key responsibilities

• Review documents and prepare evidence for defence.
• Draft correspondence to courts, clients and third parties.
• Confer with witnesses, prepare statements and brief counsel.
• Draft and file court documents, attend hearings and trials.
• Provide client advice and issue instructions to experts.
• Supervise, mentor and train junior lawyers and team members.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years post‑admission experience in defendant insurance matters, preferably in personal injury and general liability.
• Ability to manage files independently and progress matters through court proceedings.
• Proactive, autonomous and collaborative working style.
• Strong analytical, drafting and communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.

Required skills

• Legal research and case analysis.
• Drafting of court pleadings, witness statements and client advice.
• Experience with litigation management systems.
