Associate Director - Drainage

About the role

The Associate Director – Drainage will lead hydraulic design and technical review of stormwater and drainage infrastructure on major transport, defence and energy projects. The role combines hands‑on engineering with senior technical leadership and client engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead hydraulic assessment and design of stormwater and drainage networks, including pit‑and‑pipe, open channels, culverts, detention and treatment facilities.
• Oversee hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, interpret results and integrate them into design deliverables.
• Review and approve calculations, models, drawings, reports and specifications.
• Provide flood‑risk advice, drainage strategy and resilience recommendations to project teams and clients.
• Mentor junior engineers and support business development in the Perth market.

Required profile

• 15+ years post‑graduate experience in stormwater and drainage hydraulics.
• Proven experience delivering major infrastructure projects in a consulting environment.
• Strong communication skills and commercial awareness.
• Professional registration (CPEng) highly regarded.

Required skills

• Proficiency with drainage design software such as 12d, Drains, TUFLOW, HEC‑RAS, MUSIC, RORB.
• Knowledge of relevant design standards (ARR 2019, state/authority criteria).
