Associate Cloud Engineer

About the role

Slalom is hiring an Associate Cloud Engineer to implement cloud platform, automation and DevOps solutions for its own work and for clients. The engineer works under the guidance of more experienced engineers, breaks down larger problems into smaller tasks and shares what they learn with the team. The role builds hands-on experience with cloud platforms and modern delivery practices.

Key responsibilities

• Apply DevOps culture, tooling, delivery methods and engineering practices within Slalom and its clients.
• Implement technical solutions based on established architecture and engineering patterns.
• Contribute to estimating work effort and story points for assigned tasks.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation to support application and platform delivery.
• Work with senior engineers and architects to implement cloud infrastructure and platform components.
• Identify and raise technical risks, issues, dependencies and blockers.
• Take part in technical discussions, design sessions, code reviews and Agile ceremonies.
• Share knowledge and build hands-on experience with emerging cloud, automation and AI technologies.

Required profile

• Minimum 1-2 years of cloud engineering experience.
• Experience in cloud engineering or DevOps with exposure to production environments using AWS.
• Understanding of core cloud concepts and services, especially AWS.
• Understanding of cloud competencies such as landing zones, common cloud and hybrid network patterns, and application migration and modernisation principles.
• Interest in cloud security practices, including identity and access management and fundamental cloud security principles.
• Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and turn customer requirements into practical technical solutions.

Required skills

• CI/CD pipelines with tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps or Jenkins.
• AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, IAM, API Gateway, RDS and CloudWatch; AWS certifications are highly regarded.
• Infrastructure as code with Terraform, CloudFormation or CDK.
• Automation scripts in Python, PowerShell, Bash or similar.
