Assistant Financial Controller

About the role

Pullman East Melbourne, a luxury hotel in Melbourne, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Financial Controller to support the Financial Controller in managing the hotel's financial operations. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with statutory and company requirements, support for budgeting and forecasting, and drives financial performance.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with Department Heads on cost-effective measures to improve each department's profitability
• Develop and monitor the hotel's financial systems to streamline procedures
• Assist in preparing annual budgets with Department Heads and the General Manager
• Compile quarterly forecasts with full input from all Department Heads and assist with monthly departmental forecasts
• Supply departments with accurate statistics on time and support them on finance matters
• Manage insurance matters and ensure accounts are paid within supplier credit limits
• Ensure outgoing accounts are documented, addressed and valued correctly and dispatched on time

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Finance and/or Accounting
• At least 3 years of supervisory or management accounting experience in a similar position within a large organisation
• Experience with payroll (PAYG), GST, payroll tax, workers compensation, BAS preparation, accounts payable and superannuation
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills
• Ability to understand complex stakeholder environments, coach and mentor teams, and communicate confidently
