Assistant Financial Controller

About the role

The Assistant Financial Controller will support the financial performance of a 4.5‑star hotel in the heart of Melbourne. Working closely with the Financial Controller and department leaders, you will combine technical finance expertise with commercial insight to drive profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Support daily finance operations including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, purchasing and reporting.
• Assist with budgets, forecasts and financial analysis, providing commercial insights to leaders.
• Prepare accurate reports, manage cash flow, credit approvals and debt recovery.
• Ensure compliance with Accor policies, internal controls and relevant tax regulations.
• Improve financial processes and systems to increase efficiency.
• Support the development and performance of the finance team.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience in a senior finance role with strong analytical and commercial acumen.
• Knowledge of PAYG, GST, Payroll Tax, Workers Compensation, BAS, Accounts Payable and Superannuation.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver accurate results.

Required skills

• Experience with accounting systems such as Opera Cloud, Zambion Ready Workforce, Purchase Plus, Micros Symphony and Sun Cloud.
• Proficiency in financial reporting, budgeting and cost management.
