Assistant Accountant

About the role

Join a well‑established Japanese organisation in Brisbane CBD as an Assistant Accountant. This permanent full‑time position offers the chance to develop your accounting skills within a professional and supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including payment processing and receipt allocation.
• Support cash flow management, banking activities, and month‑end/quarter‑end/year‑end close processes.
• Maintain accurate financial records, general ledger reconciliations, and fixed asset registers.
• Prepare financial reports and documentation for management review.
• Assist with external audit liaison and tax compliance activities (BAS, GST, FBT).
• Liaise with internal stakeholders and external service providers to resolve finance‑related queries.
• Support accounting system enhancements, process improvements, and provide administrative support to the finance team.

Required profile

• Degree qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or related discipline.
• Minimum 3‑5 years experience in an accounting or assistant accountant role.
• Solid understanding of Australian accounting principles and financial reporting requirements.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and unrestricted Australian working rights.

Required skills

• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Experience using ERP systems; exposure to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is advantageous.
