APS5 Investigator - Regulatory Team, Canberra

About the role

HOBAN Recruitment is recruiting experienced, analytical APS5 level Investigators for a growing regulatory team in Canberra, working for a Federal Government agency. The role contributes to investigations that support transparency, accountability and public confidence in Australia's democratic processes, assisting with complex investigations, analysing information and intelligence and contributing to evidence-based regulatory outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Gather, analyse and document information supporting investigations into potential legislative breaches and regulatory matters
• Review documentation and financial information, identify issues and advise on decision-making
• Use data and intelligence tools to identify high-risk behaviours, entities and emerging compliance risks
• Analyse trends and indicators of non-compliance and help shape targeted regulatory strategies
• Prepare reports, briefings and correspondence for senior stakeholders and decision-makers
• Maintain high standards of quality and integrity and work under general supervision in a collaborative team

Required profile

• Experience in investigations, compliance, regulatory, audit, intelligence, risk or similar structured investigative environments
• Australian citizenship (required for this federal government role)
• Current Baseline Security Clearance, or ability to obtain and maintain one
• Certificate IV in Government Investigations (or willingness to complete one) highly regarded

What we offer

• APS5 salary of $88,834 to $96,848 plus 15.4% superannuation, depending on experience
• Non-ongoing APS assignment from 2 November 2026 to 2 November 2027
• Learning and development opportunities, and possible support for a Certificate IV in Government Investigations
