About the role
Aurecon is seeking an Airport Planning Leader to join its Aviation Planning group in Melbourne. You will drive strategic planning services for major capital‑city airports, guiding projects from concept through implementation while collaborating with multidisciplinary experts.
Key responsibilities
- Lead delivery of airport planning projects from inception to implementation.
- Manage multidisciplinary teams covering terminal, capacity, simulation, airfield, master‑plan, precinct planning and aviation impact assessments.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with airport clients and industry stakeholders.
- Support business development, proposal preparation and pursuit activities to grow the aviation planning portfolio.
- Provide strategic advice on complex airport growth and infrastructure challenges.
- Collaborate with technical specialists across planning, engineering and advisory services.
- Mentor and develop emerging planners within the team.
- Contribute to the development of Aurecon’s national airport planning capability.
Required profile
- 8‑15 years of experience in airport planning with proven leadership on planning outcomes.
- Experience leading airport planning projects and managing client relationships.
- Background in major airport expansions or greenfield developments.
- Strong analytical, strategic and commercial thinking.
- Ability to manage multidisciplinary project teams and deliver high‑quality results.
- Experience in business development, proposal preparation and winning work.
- Deep understanding of airport planning, capacity assessment, infrastructure development and aviation operations.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
- Proven ability to mentor junior team members.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Planning or a related discipline.
