AIC & Supplier Development Specialist

About the role

This high‑impact, strategic position shapes and delivers end‑to‑end category, sourcing and Australian Industry Capability (AIC) strategies across multiple operational and programmatic requirements for Metrea in Australia and the broader Asia‑Pacific region.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver category and sourcing strategies across key spend areas.
• Build strong, trusted relationships with suppliers and Australian industry partners.
• Identify opportunities to grow Australian Industry Capability and strengthen local supply chains.
• Lead supplier selection, commercial negotiations and contracting activities.
• Partner with Operations, Programs, Engineering, Finance and Commercial teams to align sourcing solutions with business needs.
• Drive value beyond price by balancing capability, quality, risk, speed and whole‑of‑life cost.
• Embed responsible and ethical sourcing into procurement decisions and promote innovation.

Required profile

• Experienced procurement, category or strategic sourcing professional with a track record in complex environments.
• Strong commercial and negotiation capability, comfortable influencing across functions and levels.
• Understanding of Australian Industry Capability, Defence or regulated sectors is highly regarded.
• Ability to work through ambiguity, move quickly and balance competing priorities.

Required skills

• Analysis of large data sets to generate actionable recommendations.
• Interpretation of technical drawings, engineering specifications and maintenance documentation.
• Professional procurement certification (e.g., CIPS, CPSM, CPIM, CSCP, MCIPS, Diploma of Procurement and Contracting).
