AI Engineering Manager

About the role

An organisation investing heavily in next-generation AI capabilities is looking for an experienced AI Engineering Manager to lead a team focused on AI agents, generative AI, machine learning and intelligent automation. The role combines hands-on technical leadership with people leadership, driving the design, development and operationalisation of AI-powered solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and coordinate a team of AI and software engineering professionals.
• Drive the design and delivery of AI agents, agent frameworks and intelligent automation solutions.
• Establish best practices across AI engineering, software development and platform delivery.
• Lead the development of cloud-based AI platforms, ensuring scalability, security and reliability.
• Work with business stakeholders to find opportunities where AI creates measurable value.
• Oversee project planning, prioritisation and delivery.
• Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies, tools and frameworks.
• Promote responsible AI practices, governance, testing and quality standards.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes for senior stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading technical teams in AI, machine learning or software engineering environments.
• Commercial experience with Python and modern software engineering practices.
• Experience delivering AI, machine learning or generative AI solutions in production.
• Understanding of AI agents, agent orchestration, tool/function calling and workflow automation.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Exposure to MLOps, LLMOps, CI/CD and modern engineering practices.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, able to balance strategic leadership with hands-on delivery.
