AHS Coach - Mining Excellence

About the role

Rio Tinto is looking for an AHS Coach to shape safer, more productive Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) performance across its Caterpillar FIFO operations. You will coach mine operations teams, lift capability and support continuous improvement across the load, haul and dump cycle. The role reports to the Capability Superintendent and is open to permanent full-time positions on an 8 days on, 6 days off FIFO roster from Perth.

Key responsibilities

• Adhere to all Rio Tinto health and safety standards, policies and procedures, and report hazards and risks.
• Coach operators on load and ancillary equipment to increase AHS operational efficiency.
• Drive safe and efficient AHS operations across the load, haul and dump cycle, with targeted coaching on safety behaviours, risk control and dump management.
• Liaise with frontline leadership using a data-driven approach to recommend productivity improvements.
• Review performance with operators and coaches to improve equipment and system KPIs such as spot, load, swing times and dump and crusher configurations.
• Liaise with OEMs on operational best practices and lead recognition programs for operator productivity.
• Foster continuous improvement, including weekly RND audits and AHS improvement initiatives.
• Ensure accurate, timely reporting of safety incidents and escalation to supervisors where needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 4-5 years' experience in AHS.
• Proven experience operating production loaders, diggers and ancillary equipment.
• Previous experience as a pit patroller, pit technician or similar is highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of AHS fundamentals and key mining value drivers.
• Exceptional interpersonal and coaching skills, with a focus on relationship building.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MineStar systems.
• High computer literacy, with proficiency in Rio Tinto systems and similar digital tools.
• Working knowledge of controller operations is advantageous.
