Account Director - Strategic Communications

About the role

Elevate, an independent strategic communication agency with 18 years of experience serving Australian brands across government, agribusiness, education, franchise, healthcare, manufacturing, property and technology, is looking for an Account Director. The role sits in the leadership team and reports to the General Manager, helping clients meet financial targets, deliver exceptional work and attract and retain great team members. It is based in East Brisbane, with working hours 08:30-17:00.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of clients across diverse sectors, acting as a trusted advisor and senior counsel at key client meetings
• Direct PR and communication campaigns such as media relations, social media, issues and crisis management, events, awards, thought leadership and internal communications
• Develop client strategies, define scope of work and KPIs, and monitor program implementation
• Manage commercial performance, including budgets, scopes, profitability and target billability
• Drive business growth by building industry networks, converting leads and contributing to BD and marketing strategy
• Mentor and coach consultants and account managers, and handle HR issues with the General Manager
• Oversee media relations, pitch to high-level media, and provide crisis support to clients

Required profile

• At least 5 years' experience in the communications industry, including leadership experience in an agency or similar
• Over 2 years of agency experience in PR, communications or marketing
• Proven track record as a client leader and team leader
• Experience in government, property, franchise, NFP, health, manufacturing or agribusiness is highly regarded

Required skills

• Excellent communication, strategic and creative thinking skills
• Strong commercial acumen, financial management and negotiation skills
• Excellent understanding of the Australian media and marketing landscape
• Strong network with media, journalists and influencers
