Accommodation/Tenancy Support Worker

About the role

The Accommodation/Tenancy Support Worker supports NDIS participants in moving into new accommodation and keeping their housing stable. The role covers helping participants understand tenancy obligations, liaising with landlords and making sure their living environment is suitable and sustainable. It is aligned with NDIS support and follows NDIS guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Assist participants in finding and securing appropriate accommodation.
• Help them understand tenancy agreements, rental obligations and tenant rights.
• Liaise with landlords, real estate agents and housing providers on their behalf.
• Support participants in maintaining their tenancy and dealing with housing challenges.
• Advise on budgeting for rent, utilities and household expenses.
• Help develop independent living skills for accommodation management.
• Ensure compliance with NDIS guidelines and organisational policies.
• Maintain accurate records of participant progress and tenancy support activities.
• Communicate with participants, caregivers and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Experience in social work, community services, housing support or a related field.
• Knowledge of tenancy laws and rental processes.
• Strong advocacy and negotiation skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to support participants with financial literacy and tenancy budgeting.
• Understanding of NDIS policies and participant rights (desirable).
• Valid driver's licence and reliable transport (desirable).
