Team Leader (Payroll Services)

About the role

The Payroll Team Leader will head a team of dedicated payroll professionals, partnering with various business areas across the department. This role offers variety, allowing you to deliver a broad range of payroll services while developing your leadership and technical capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Support the manager in delivering high‑quality end‑to‑end payroll processing, systems and payment services.
• Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory standards and prescribed requirements.
• Develop, implement and monitor operational procedures, controls and performance measures for accurate and timely payroll delivery.
• Design and manage workflows to optimise performance, monitor volumes and maintain internal controls.
• Interpret and communicate key human‑resource developments to keep operational practices up‑to‑date.
• Mentor and coach team members, fostering an inclusive, customer‑centric culture.
• Provide expert payroll advice to management, stakeholders and customers in line with legislation and policies.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, partners and customers to drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading payroll or finance teams.
• Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, regulations and compliance requirements.
• Ability to develop and enforce operational procedures and performance metrics.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and advice provision.
• Commitment to mentoring, coaching and fostering professional development.
