Legal Counsel – In-house (Compliance & Governance)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Legal Counsel to join a team of six lawyers reporting to the General Counsel. The role will provide pragmatic legal advice and help shape compliance, risk and governance frameworks across a large, diversified organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide timely legal advice to business stakeholders on commercial and operational matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements and manage contracts throughout their lifecycle.
• Assist with disputes, claims and litigation matters as required.
• Support and maintain compliance programmes covering modern slavery, privacy, ethics and regulatory obligations.
• Identify, assess and mitigate legal and compliance risks, and contribute to internal investigations and due‑diligence activities.
• Partner with stakeholders to strengthen controls, policies and procedures.
• Support the ongoing review of governance frameworks, coordinate policy updates and act as a point of contact for governance enquiries.

Required profile

• At least 3 years post‑qualification experience, either in‑house or in a commercial law practice.
• Strong contract drafting and negotiation abilities.
• Commercial, pragmatic and solutions‑focused approach.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
