Business Development Manager - Power & Distribution Transformers

About the role

A well-established international manufacturer of engineered electrical infrastructure solutions is looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to drive strategic growth and build key customer relationships across Australia. Reporting to senior leadership, the role covers business development across the country, from initial engagement through to contract award, working with major infrastructure owners, EPC contractors and renewable energy developers. The employer is a respected global manufacturer known for quality engineering and long-term investment.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and secure new business opportunities across the utility, renewable energy, mining and industrial sectors.
• Develop and strengthen relationships with senior decision-makers, consultants, contractors and project stakeholders.
• Manage complex sales cycles from opportunity identification through to negotiation and contract award.
• Track major infrastructure projects and position the business for future tender opportunities.
• Work with engineering and technical teams to develop tailored customer solutions.
• Monitor market activity, competitor movements and industry trends to spot new growth opportunities.
• Deliver accurate sales forecasting and maintain a healthy pipeline of strategic opportunities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in business development or technical sales within electrical infrastructure, power systems or transformers.
• Strong relationships with utilities, EPC contractors, renewable energy developers or major industrial customers.
• Experience managing long sales cycles, large tenders and high-value commercial negotiations.
• Excellent commercial, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive, self-driven and able to work autonomously.
• An engineering qualification is highly regarded but not essential.
