AWS Data Engineering Lead

About the role

As a Specialist Lead in Deloitte's AI & Data team, you will design, build and optimise large‑scale AWS data platforms for high‑profile clients, bridging complex data challenges with cloud‑native solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and build scalable, secure data platforms using AWS services (Glue, Redshift, Athena, RDS, Lambda, MSK, Managed Flink, SageMaker, S3, Lake Formation, QuickSight) together with Airflow and dbt.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams to solve data engineering, platform automation, CI/CD and advanced analytics problems.
• Drive adoption of AI and agentic workflows to accelerate delivery of modern data platforms.
• Embed DevOps and FinOps best practices, including infrastructure‑as‑code, monitoring, cost optimisation and platform control planes.
• Partner with Solution Architects and business stakeholders to translate goals into technical blueprints.
• Build production‑grade ETL/ELT pipelines using SQL, Python and big‑data frameworks.
• Mentor and coach team members, set technical standards and contribute to Deloitte’s IP through hackathons and webinars.

Required profile

• 5+ years delivering large‑scale, multi‑cloud Data & AI platforms, primarily on AWS, preferably in a consulting environment.
• Proven leadership experience managing technical teams and communicating with non‑technical stakeholders.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate required, Professional preferred) and other relevant certifications.

• Orchestration and transformation tools: Airflow, dbt.
• Programming: SQL, Python.
• Big‑data and streaming frameworks: Apache Spark, Flink, Storm, Kafka.
• Data modelling, modern data warehousing and data lake design.
