Assistant Vice President Portfolio Manager – Systematic Equity Beta

About the role

This position sits within State Street Investment Management’s Systematic Equity Beta team, handling day‑to‑day investment activities for indexed equity portfolios. The successful candidate will develop into a portfolio manager, overseeing portfolio monitoring, cash management, trade execution and performance attribution.

Key responsibilities

• Manage indexed equity portfolios, including daily monitoring, cash flows, trade construction and execution.
• Analyze index changes, corporate actions and portfolio events to determine optimal implementation approaches.
• Perform performance attribution analysis and explain tracking results to internal and client‑facing teams.
• Collaborate with portfolio managers, traders, operations, risk, compliance, client teams and offshore partners.
• Contribute to process improvement, automation and control enhancements.

Required profile

• Junior investment professional with strong numeracy, attention to detail and genuine interest in equity markets and indexed investing.
• Ability to think clearly under pressure, act with conviction and communicate reasoning behind decisions.
• Flexible, proactive and responsive approach to work, comfortable both in teams and independently.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
• Knowledge of investment instruments and how investment performance is calculated.
• Currently studying for or planning to take CFA exams (preferred).
