Accountant, Financial Control

About the role

Mirvac supports its Residential Development business through a Financial Control team. As an Accountant, Financial Control, you will deliver accurate financial reporting, month-end accounting and financial control processes across residential development entities and joint ventures. It suits someone wanting to grow technical accounting expertise within a leading Australian residential property developer.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and prepare reporting deliverables for Group Tax and Group Finance across wholly owned entities, joint ventures and joint operations.
• Prepare journals to support Residential Development sales.
• Manage national overhead cost centres and corporate recharges.
• Own month-end close on the balance sheet and profit and loss, including reviewing monthly account reconciliations.
• Assist with half-year and full-year Group Reporting Packs and GST compliance activities.
• Prepare audit work papers and help respond to audit queries.
• Act as the point of contact with the offshore team, monitoring performance and giving ongoing feedback.
• Maintain general ledger, job cost and cost centre master data.
• Contribute to process improvement and automation initiatives.
• Keep up to date with accounting standards, tax legislation and technical developments.

Required profile

• Qualified finance professional with experience in financial accounting, audit or business services; first-time movers from professional practice are encouraged to apply.
• Exposure to listed Property, Real Estate, Construction or a related industry is highly regarded.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Well-developed technical accounting skills, strong attention to detail, self-motivated and able to work independently and in a team.

Required skills

• Intermediate Excel skills are essential.
• Reasonable knowledge of general income tax and GST principles.
• Experience with large ERP systems; Yardi experience desirable but not essential.
