Projects Cost Controller

About the role

The Projects Cost Controller supports the Cost Control Team by ensuring accurate costing for inventory and overheads across multiple South American projects. You will work closely with senior cost controllers, project managers and site accountants to maintain budget integrity and provide timely financial insights.

Key responsibilities

• Assist lead and senior cost controllers on several projects, reviewing material requisitions against approved budgets.
• Set up project budgets and forecasts in ERP, allocating appropriate cost codes.
• Maintain and update project cost forecasts in Excel, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
• Review monthly site cost reports, resolve coding issues, and distribute site‑wide costs using ERP journal functions.
• Monitor actual costs versus approved budgets, identify trends, and flag potential overruns.
• Generate monthly variance analysis and produce PowerBI cost control reports.
• Coordinate with suppliers, procurement, finance and project teams to resolve cost discrepancies.
• Track purchase order variations and ensure cost impacts are reflected in forecasts.
• Maintain documentation for audits and internal reviews.

Required profile

• Experience supporting cost control activities on multiple projects.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to reconcile general ledger and cost accounting data.
• Proficiency in preparing budget forecasts and variance analyses.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• ERP system (journal functions, cost code setup)
