HSE Manager – Manufacturing

About the role

Alcon is seeking an experienced HSE Manager to lead health, safety and environmental initiatives across its manufacturing operations. You will shape and maintain robust HSE systems, ensuring a safe workplace and compliance with Australian regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously improve HSE policies, procedures and programs.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, codes of practice and industry standards.
• Conduct regular risk assessments, audits and inspections, and drive corrective actions.
• Provide expert advice to management and staff, fostering a proactive safety culture.
• Coordinate incident investigations, root‑cause analysis and reporting.
• Design and deliver HSE training for employees at all levels.
• Monitor HSE performance metrics and prepare reports for senior leadership.
• Manage relationships with external regulatory bodies and represent Alcon in industry forums.
• Promote environmental sustainability initiatives and ensure environmental regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science or related field (post‑graduate qualifications desirable).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in an HSE management role, preferably in healthcare, pharmaceutical or manufacturing.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Australian HSE legislation and standards.
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Professional certifications such as Cert IV in Work Health and Safety or Lead Auditor are highly regarded.
