Custodial Correctional Officer

About the role

Queensland Corrective Services is recruiting Custodial Correctional Officers statewide, with applications open year-round. The role involves securing offenders, assisting in their rehabilitation and guiding them toward a successful life free of crime. It is a full-time position with ongoing employment and career progression.

Key responsibilities

• Support education, vocational training and employment programs
• Assist with cultural engagement initiatives
• Manage prisoner inductions and accommodation units
• Conduct perimeter security and external escorts
• Write reports for case management

Required profile

• No prior experience or qualifications needed; a current open or provisional driver's licence is required
• Applicants from all walks of life are welcome; energy, empathy and resilience matter most
• Reasonable level of language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills, assessed during recruitment and the entry program
• Daily work uses computers and digital systems for reporting, records and communication

What we offer

• Salary of $2,968.70 to $4,763.79 per fortnight, including superannuation
• Five weeks of annual leave
• A 10-week fully paid training program, followed by a Certificate III in Correctional Practice (Custodial)
• Uniforms and meals provided
• Up to $7,000 relocation assistance for eligible recruits moving to regional centres
• Aggregated shift allowance of 31.5% for centre-based officers; Court Unit officers are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
