Compliance Associate - Australia

About the role

The Australasian Compliance function ensures that BlackRock entities in Australia and New Zealand meet their local regulatory obligations and that compliance policies and procedures are applied. In Australia this includes monitoring compliance with Australian Financial Services Licenses (AFSLs) and local regulatory obligations. The role is based in Sydney.

Key responsibilities

• Review marketing materials and provide compliance input on client due diligence requests and requests for proposals.
• Complete periodic attestations and prepare governance papers, including those for the Compliance Committee, Risk & Controls Committee and the Board.
• Liaise with external auditors on the audit of the Compliance Plans and coordinate the annual assurance process.
• Assist with regulatory filings and monitor regulatory reforms and developments in Australia and New Zealand.
• Advise on the operation of local regulation and BlackRock policies, such as marketing and distribution, conflicted remuneration, fund disclosure and design and distribution obligations.
• Support the Compliance team and business stakeholders on ad hoc projects and contribute to strategic initiatives.

Required profile

• At least 3-5 years of regulatory compliance experience, ideally in investment management.
• Basic understanding of the Australian regulatory environment for investment management, especially registered managed investment schemes; New Zealand knowledge is not required but beneficial.
• Basic understanding of investment products, preferably ETFs and unlisted managed funds.
• Self-motivated, highly organised, able to work as part of a team and collaborate across the business.
