Commercial Manager – Defence Export Contracts

About the role

Amentum is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to provide complex commercial advice, contract management and procurement outcomes for its Export Program PMO. The role works within an integrated Defence workforce and ensures value‑for‑money outcomes while complying with Commonwealth legislation and Defence policy.

Key responsibilities

• Provide commercial support and advice in the Defence export context and actively participate in multi‑disciplinary meetings.
• Develop, review and evaluate contract and Defence approval documents, including CDRL data items, plans and contractor proposals.
• Draft, review and progress correspondence, briefs and reports for senior delegates and committees.
• Manage contract change proposals, monitor contractor compliance and identify commercial risks with mitigation strategies.
• Interface with JORN Sustainment and HFRPO teams to manage contract interdependencies and support procurement planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Business, Law or relevant tertiary qualification, or vocational qualification (Cert IV/Diploma) in a commercial field.
• Eligibility for NV1 security clearance and access to US export‑controlled data (ITAR).
• 8+ years experience managing Defence contractual relationships across prime, 2nd and 3rd tier contractors.
• Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder‑engagement capabilities.
• Ability to work independently in a high‑pressure environment and deliver outstanding outcomes.
