Student Protection Manager (EOI)

About the role

The Student Protection Manager leads the Student Protection team, providing strategic advice, policy development and training to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and students across Queensland schools. This temporary, fixed‑term position (up to 12 months) is open to expressions of interest.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert advice on legislative, policy and strategic issues related to child and student protection.
• Lead implementation of recommendations from external reviews and inquiries.
• Develop and oversee policies, procedures, resources and training for Department staff to meet mandatory reporting obligations.
• Conduct research, analysis, monitoring and reporting on protection strategies and initiatives.
• Maintain effective networks and coordinate with intra‑agency and cross‑agency partners.
• Drive state‑wide protection strategies to align with departmental and government priorities.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of child and student protection issues and their impact on schools.
• Proven ability to lead and manage a team with competing agendas and deliver outcomes on time.
• Experience coordinating multi‑agency projects and implementing government reforms.
• Excellent communication skills for intra‑agency and cross‑agency negotiations.
