Stakeholder Engagement & Communications Consultant

About the role

Jacobs is seeking a Consultant to lead stakeholder engagement and communications for major planning and infrastructure projects in Canberra. The role involves drafting a variety of communication materials, coordinating engagement activities, and supporting the delivery of positive environmental and social outcomes for clients across defence, energy, water, transport and health sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Draft communications for channels such as ministerial updates, briefing presentations, web copy and media releases.
• Coordinate in‑person and online stakeholder and community engagement events, including meetings, workshops, webinars and forums.
• Maintain engagement databases and shared file repositories.
• Prepare engagement action plans, outcome reports, stakeholder analyses, risk assessments and data analyses.
• Collaborate with technical specialists in multidisciplinary teams.
• Contribute to a positive team culture and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Communication, Marketing, Public Relations, Business, Social Science, Arts or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in communications and/or stakeholder engagement.
• Experience working for Defence or another Federal Government organisation is highly desirable.
• Active or willingness to obtain an AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance (cost covered by employer).
• Understanding of IAP2 best practice for public participation; IAP2 certification is a plus.
