Specialist Technician – Systems Engineer for School ICT

About the role

Bytewize is looking for experienced Systems Engineers / Specialist Technicians to provide technical support to Victorian schools through the Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP). You will manage and maintain ICT infrastructure, support staff and students, and help deliver professional development in a technology‑driven learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain ICT infrastructure across Department of Education schools.
• Administer and support school networks, server environments and cloud services.
• Provide ICT support in large, technology‑driven learning environments.
• Collaborate with school leadership teams and deliver ICT professional development when required.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of senior‑level IT support experience (TSSP, education sector, or equivalent corporate IT).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem‑solving, escalation and communication skills.
• Eligibility to work in Australia (citizen, PR or permanent visa), current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
• Willingness to undergo police and background checks.

Required skills

• Hyper‑V virtualisation administration.
• Windows and Linux server administration.
• Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 cloud service administration.
• Mobile Device Management (MDM) deployment and administration.
• Advanced enterprise networking – Cisco and HP switching.
• Cisco wireless technologies (controllers, APs).
• Standard Operating Environment (SOE) and image deployment with advanced troubleshooting.
• Support for large fleets of desktops, notebooks, 1:1 and BYOD device planning.
• Technical documentation.

What we offer

• Salary $90,000 – $110,000 AUD (pro‑rata), top rates based on skills and experience.
