Solicitor – Native Title & Aboriginal Heritage

About the role

The Crown Solicitor's Office is seeking a Solicitor to join a dynamic legal team supporting the State of South Australia in native title and Aboriginal heritage matters. You will work closely with senior solicitors and counsel, providing practical legal solutions that contribute to reconciliation and the protection of cultural heritage.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior solicitors and counsel with native title recognition claims and compensation matters.
• Provide legal advice and representation to the State on Aboriginal heritage issues.
• Analyse legislation, case law, and legal principles relevant to native title and heritage.
• Review historical, ethnographic, anthropological, archaeological and linguistic materials.
• Support the wider Commercial Environment and Native Title section as required.

Required profile

• Current Australian driver’s licence (minimum class C).
• Unrestricted practising certificate in South Australia (or eligibility to obtain one).
• Successful National Police Certificate clearance.
• Willingness to undertake occasional out‑of‑hours work.
• Flexibility to discuss part‑time or other flexible arrangements.
