About the role
Ventia is seeking a Senior Tax Advisor to join its Group Finance team in North Sydney on a 13‑month fixed‑term contract. Reporting within the Tax function, you will manage indirect tax compliance, support tax governance and provide strategic tax advice to finance and business stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Manage indirect tax compliance across Australia and New Zealand, including GST, FBT, withholding tax and fuel tax credits.
- Prepare, lodge and pay all GST and FBT returns accurately and on time.
- Provide practical tax advice on GST, FBT and related matters.
- Perform tax account reconciliations, prepare month‑end journals and support statutory reporting, budgeting, forecasting and audit requirements.
- Assist in preparing tax technical papers and enhance Ventia’s Tax Corporate Governance Framework.
- Monitor legislative tax changes and assess business impacts.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders and address tax queries.
- Drive continuous improvement through process optimisation, automation and innovative technology solutions, including AI.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Law or related field; CA or CPA preferred.
- Solid experience in tax (Big 4 preferred) or financial accounting roles.
- Experience in financial accounting operations such as AP, AR, bank reconciliations and Australian tax compliance within complex corporate environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, SAP and tax/accounting systems, with ability to quickly learn new platforms.
- Excellent analytical, numerical and problem‑solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication, organisational and stakeholder‑management capabilities, able to manage competing priorities under pressure.
- Solutions‑focused, proactive, accountable with a collaborative mindset and ability to work independently.
