Senior Tax Advisor

About the role

The Senior Tax Advisor will join Shell Australia’s Integrated Gas business in Perth, providing specialist tax advice that supports business opportunities and mitigates risk. The role works closely with other tax functions, including transfer pricing, indirect tax and employment tax, to deliver proactive and practical guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and resolve complex tax technical issues, acting as the first line of escalation for cross‑functional teams.
• Provide clear, proactive advice on transactions and business structures while balancing value and risk.
• Collaborate with global and regional tax teams to manage cross‑border tax matters.
• Maintain and share expertise in Australian direct tax, ensuring the business stays compliant with evolving legislation.
• Build cooperative relationships with revenue authorities in line with Shell’s Responsible Tax Principles.
• Support tax compliance, period‑end reporting, audit, SOX processes and authority reviews.
• Engage with business units to disseminate tax information and identify tax implications of business changes.

Required profile

• Broad experience in business taxation for multinational organisations or professional firms.
• Recognised professional qualification and membership of a recognised accounting or legal body.
• Strong communication skills for explaining complex tax issues both verbally and in writing.
• Proven ability to build and maintain external relationships and influence stakeholders.
• Comfort evaluating tax risks, balancing them with business objectives, and advising on project economics.

• Experience with tax technologies, including AI‑driven tools and analytics.
